A European organisation deeply rooted in the global impact investing community.
Our organisation evolved from a high-level initiative launched at the World Economic Forum 2001 in Davos. The GEXSI founders and supporters, including Kurt Engelhorn, Pamela Hartigan, John Goldstein, Henry Gonzalez, Henrik Naujoks, Maritta Koch-Weser, Cornelius Pietzner, David Diallo, Tim Radjy or Hanns-Michael Hölz, shared the vision that it needs more well connected market facilitators to align capital with purpose.
Ever since GEXSI was founded, the organisation was torn between on the one side striving to become a self-sustaining market-driven venture that provides professional impact investment consultancy services, while on the other side being a mission-driven organization which supports outstanding high-impact ventures and projects around the globe – for good. This two-sided positioning in the market mirrors the current state of the impact investing market: It’s a fast growing investment segment which increasingly attracts significant amounts of capital, but to unleash the potential of this market we need alliance with both public and private entities that support the market development.
In 2014, we simplified our organizational structure. Instead of operating with a charitable and a for-profit entity, the GEXSI team headed by Andreas Renner and David Diallo decided to stick with the limited liability company, and to start the process to become a B-Corp certified company, which operates from our home base Berlin.
